Change of Plans

I slept in this morning!

My interview had been scheduled for 9:52am, with a hostess pick-up at 8:55 and an appointment with my hairdresser at 7:30. Last night, I set my alarm for 6am and crawled into bed at 9:30pm. An hour later, Heidi and I received phone calls from our hostesses that interviews had been rescheduled due to one of the judges being sick.

This morning, we learned that Delta Burke is ill and will not be judging the remainder of the competition. Her scores from the interviews in which she took place will not be counted, so we will all receive 5 scores for each category. That's the way I understand it, at least.

It's like they've been telling us all along... stay on your toes, because you never know when something might change!

Thanks to everyone (even the strangers!) for the encouraging comments. I truly appreciate your support throughout this process! Blogging from this point on may be rather limited, but my state board is here and will be sharing their thoughts and photos with you at missmn2007.blogspot.com. Enjoy!

    Dear Nicole,
The Northern California contingent are packing their bags and getting ready to arrive in LV tomorrow (Saturday). We can't wait! Many of our friends here in Petaluma are now cheering for you, too! See you tomorrow, Pam

It was so much fun to see you on TV tonight (pageant school special). You did a great job! We were all pointing to the screen saying, "there she is! there she is!". I'm sure your evening gown and swimsuit prelims went terrific, and tomorrow night you and Max are going to blow them away!

    Keep up the great work!

    Nicole,

I had a dream last night that you were disappointed to the point of tears. I was shocked when I got up this morning and learned the judges overlooked the greatest talent ever to be a part of the Miss America program. That's the problem with pageant judges - they are fallible. Well, their error won't effect God's will and plan for your life. If He wants you to win the pageant, you will! And if He has something even better in mind for you (which at the moment might be hard to see), He will reveal it at the right time. In the mean time, I pray that He will carry you through whatever you're feeling. Nothing will change the fact that you are an amazing woman with a bright and exciting future. I'm sure you scored very high in all catagories, and I heard what happens in the private interviews makes for most of the scoring, so you could still well be in the running. Regardless of who the top 10 finalists are, we are so looking forward to seeing you on TV again Monday night to perform the dance routines with the other contestants. It's a very cool thing that you are in the 2007 Miss America Pageant! We'll give you a big hug when we see you again back in Minnesota!

    Much love,

    Tom and family

Wow, Nicole, I knew I should have been keeping better track of the news from Lakeville! Who'd have thought Sci Oly could be part of the road to such glamorous pursuits? Congratulations to you, and good luck tonight.

Nicole - Luke and I have enjoyed watching and listening to you on the television and radio. What a neat experience participating in both the Minnesota and America pageants! Reading your blogs it sounds like you've had a wonderful time and met a lot of neat people. You have a wonderful knack with kids and music. Godspeed in whatever your future brings you! Good luck tonight! Luke & Carol F. - Plymouth

So since I couldn't find somewhere to watch you tonight, I had to keep track of you online. I was really really hoping you at least took top 10. I was so sad to see that you didn't. MN is still very proud of you. See you at the next pageant. For sure at Miss Twin Cities, if not Miss Coon Rapids.

Here, deep in the Heart of Darkest Iowa, you will always be Miss America. I made a formal motion in front of my friends, and it was seconded and everything. We had a big get together to cheer you on, and I regaled my friends with tales of Mousie-ears and sidewalk chalk.

    Nicole,
Well, I missed the pageant. I don't have CMT in Japan unfortunately. Chelsea refused to give me your email, otherwise I would've emailed you to say good luck. If you get this comment, do email me. Get it from Chels. Or, check out my blog and leave your very own comment.
    From,
Jon (you know, from the wedding)
